Cause #3: Virus Infection

A virus infection can also cause a computer to run slow. If you know that you have been to free download websites for music or game files, there is a chance that you could have opened a virus file. To remove the virus in your computer, you will need to use anti-virus software to do the job. You can do a search on the web to find anti-virus software for your computer. Some of the best anti-virus software include Norton, MacAfee and AVG Free. Try to do a backup of your most important files if you think that your computer may have a virus.

Those are the most likely causes of why a computer can run slow. If you want your computer to speed up, I would recommend cleaning out your registry first. This was the main reason why my computer slowed down, and fixing my registry restored my computer to its optimal performance level.
