Some of the things you will want to consider when looking for a computer will be storage size, memory size, screen quality, etc, however lets look at one of the fundamental decisions that consumers often get wrong when buying a computer. Should I buy a desktop computer or a laptop/notebook computer?

First off let's look at obvious option, portability. By portability I simply mean are you looking for computer that will sit on a desk in your home and stay there or are you looking for a computer that you can move about the house and even take with you on the road to work. In the first instance you will probably want to settle for a desktop computer which is basically a unit which contains all the computer components and the screen, keyboard and mouse are separate. These types of computer a normally the most powerful of home computing and will be able to deliver you high end performance, the only one down side is that they are not very portable since there are many different separate components.

On the second instance you will be looking more to go with a laptop or notebook computer. A notebook computer is a computer that houses the computer components, screen, keyboard and mouse all in one. These types of computer come with a screen that folds in and out and only weigh a few kilograms so that you are able to carry them where ever you go. But as you could guess, with this portability comes a little less performance ability since the computer is quite small and can only hold a certain amount of hardware.

As I said above one other key thing to consider is how much power will you be needing in your computer, this is very important to consider if you are going to be using your computer for high end graphics, audio and video. If you require a computer that is going to need to deliver a lot of power than it is probably safe to go with a desktop computer since they will be able to give you the latest in technology advancement and will be able to do your job to the highest ability. On the other hand if you are after a computer that is just required for day to day stuff and business than you defiantly just settle for a notebook computer that will fulfill this plus give you the portability factor.

Anyway there is a quick insight into the differences of desktop computer to laptop/notebook computer and some of the key pros and cons that each comprise of. Remember to consider these when you are going out to buy a computer and make sure that when you do so always consult a person that knows what they are talking about so they can help you out even further.
